Heyo!
Okay so, we successfully got everything off the faulty drive and it’s operating normally, just with the storage on another machine. After further investigating we’ve come to the conclusion that it will be possible to bring the hot data (live game server files) back onto Langley’s smaller, faster drive, and we’re in the process of making a phase-1 copy of the data before we bring the servers down to make one last sync and swap the mount over.
That will get live data off the slow HDD and directly onto the same machine, speeding everything back up again.
I am glad that we still did it this way though (moving everything to the other machine first) because now we have an easily accessible copy of the entire node instead of just the hot data. Backups will stay on the HDD on Ranger, and databases will stay wherever they are (they aren’t on Langley)
The maintenance window starts at 9:00 PM Chicago time on Monday (9/28/26, 9:00 PM CDT), and will take about an hour. Servers are not expected to be offline for the entire hour. The window gives us time to stop services, perform the final sync and cutover, verify everything is operating correctly, and address any issues before declaring maintenance complete.
Thanks!
